We all have our favorite websites, places where we can hang out with communities of like-minded people to chat, get the latest news and learn interesting and exciting new things. Good websites can become so familiar (despite the sporadic updates that seem incredibly annoying and a bit sad at first, but you get used to them within about 5 minutes), that you get a feel for their intimate characteristics, they become like a dear old friend.

Algerian artist Brahim Bensehoul took this concept and made it a reality, by bringing some of the biggest and most well-known websites to life through video game characters. Following the popular formula of ‘reimagining’ something well known (think types of soda as cartoon characters, or Disney princesses as a billion different kind of thing, even a potato), video game fan Brahim took the most prominent characteristics of a particular site and created something unique, yet familiar.

From the narcissistic, addictive excesses of Instagram to the terrifyingly shrill and influential chirps of Twitter, Brahim sums up the essence of each platform perfectly well, capturing the feel of each website from both positive and negative perspectives. Are there hidden meanings and messages within them? “I prefer to leave it to the viewer, to find the details and the story behind them,” Brahim says.
